From when The Whole of the Moon started, excitement that the band were on their way heightened. Then Larry walked past, and set up to start beating on the drums, Edge began the SBS riff, Bono started singing and Adam joined the group. The crowd were right into the concert - singing along and dancing.
My son and I arrived at the ground at 9am to line up. It was a long wait but so worth it. We were 335 and 336 in line respectively. Twickenham was a long way out of the city but easy to find. It was a rather hot day in the English sun, so we did need to hydrate to get through. We were allowed into the first gate of the ground (still outside of the stadium) around 3pm and had another hour or so wait to get right into the stadium. Once inside it was the final wait for the band. The crowd cheered when the sun finally lowered below the stadium roof. U2 arrived onstage maybe 8.15. For most of the concert it was light which diminished the impact of the concert lighting. Sound was great. The first four songs were great. We'd have love to have heard A Sort of Homecoming, but Bad is an amazing song also. The Joshua Tree section of the set was amazing. I wasn't sure how the band would work this concert, and I refused to watch what had occurred in the USA as I wanted to be surprised. I think the energy peaked around Beautiful Day, Elevation and Vertigo. It was great to round off the concert with Noel playing a song with U2.

"It's a mad thing we do. There's nothing natural about it. I mean, I hit things for a living. I hit things and people clap!"
- Larry Mullen jr. on being a drummer
While the band and crew were working on the Joshua Tree album's mixing, Lillywhite's wife, singer Kirsty MacColl, volunteered to set the running order for the album. The band told her to put "Where the Streets Have No Name" first and "Mothers of the Disappeared" last, with the rest sequenced according to her preference.
